~CHRISTIAN WEBSITES~

So what's with this part of the links page? You see, when I was still a very young (in the spiritual sense of the word) believer, my faith almost got destroyed by an atheist. Inexperienced as I was then, I would not have survived if not for God's grace and His Word. Now, older and wiser...well, somewhat...I have since learned that many of the said atheist's arguments are in fact erroneous. Here are some comprehensive sites which have helped me find the answers to objections against the orthodox Evangelical Christian faith. There are also some resources here for doctrines, devotionals and other materials.

Bible Gateway

A huge online resource for the Christian Scriptures, Bible Gateway contains almost every imaginable English translation available for cross-referencing purposes, hosts audio Bible readings, provides RSS feeds of daily Scripture readings and even houses .pdf files of Bible books translated into various languages (German, Filipino, Chinese, Japanese, etc.). If you're on the internet and need a Scripture reference, but don't have a Bible around, this page is for you.

Answers in Genesis

The definitive site for all you Christians who can't seem to make up your mind on the whole Creation/Evolution debate. For those who are boggled by just how "scientific" Darwinism/Neo-Darwinism is, I suggest their article entitled "The Evolution Train's A-Comin'" for a quick semi-technical starter. For Christians who aren't updated on Creationism and/or have a very low opinion about the movement in general, you might want to read their entire section dedicated to "Arguments Creationists Should NOT Use" to see that these people are as scientific, reasonable and Scriptural as they could possibly get.

I do have one major complaint about this site, though; they seem to come off as blaming every single human ill on materialistic evolutionary teachings. Oh well, at least they considered "Total Depravity" in one of their articles...

Matthew Slick's page is a good place to start out in for some basic apologetics concerning the Christian faith, as well as (primary!) research on cults, religious movements and certain secular philosophies. I personally recommend their "Bible Difficulties" section for those who are having trouble reconciling supposed "Bible Contradictions", like the conflicting numbers between Kings and Chronicles, for example (admittedly, that bugged me for a long time until I saw this site).

Alpha & Omega Ministries: The Christian Apologetics Ministry of James R. White

What is the light that shines really, really bright? Click here to find out. Contains an insightful blog (the author wishes to describe himself as "blog-o-rific") as well as several dozen informative articles on cults, Roman Catholicism, Reformed Theology and general apologetics. It's also home to the infamous Dividing Line webcast, which you can listen to via RealPlayer (go ahead and call in to the show as well...I dare you :-). You might also want to check out and even order some of Dr. White's books, recorded debates, etc.

The True Origin Archive: Exposing the Myth of Evolution

Now THIS is what I'm talkin' about! It seems a lot of Christians nowadays are so taken in by "scientific" teachings concerning our origins, without even realizing that those very same teachings are actually hypothetical scenarios based on anti-Christian philosophies (e.g. materialistic naturalism, humanism, etc.). They should go here and get the smack down on their butts. Home to literally dozens of articles exposing the fallacies of Darwinism/Neo-Darwinism and the Uniformitarian Principle. And check it out...the guy digs Spurgeon.

Christian Answers Network home

Christian Answers is a VERY large, family-oriented Christian website containing numerous portions, ranging from apologetics to evangelism and Christian living. They even have their own Bible study area, and most importantly they link to a LOT of specialized Christian websites that deal with different crucial areas of the faith. I also used to be a forum member on their Guide2Games message board, which is why I can go there, look up my Laws of Video Games, and rock your planet. BOOYAH!

Desiring GOD: God-Centered Resources from the Ministry of John Piper

Let me get this straight: many, and I do mean MANY Christians often have trouble living the life God intends for them to lead, as salt and light in a fallen world. Why? I believe a faulty view of God is the underlying reason, and this page is the antidote. Contains many articles, sermon manuscripts, audio files and more on the Christian faith and Reformed (Calvinist) Theology, all produced and compiled by pastor John Piper and his fellows at Bethlehem Baptist Church. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for every Christian out there, both young and old (WARNING: sharp rebuke may cause allergies).

~MUSIC & STREAMING AUDIO~

These are some music and streaming audio sites that I would like to recommend. As you can see, I like listening to Christian music, but especially those of the power metal and hard rock genre. There are also some secular sites here as well. Enjoy!

T.O. Sounds

NEW! I'll admit it; I love video game music. I've known for quite some time now that Japan seems to have a large number of fan composers who make arranged remixes and synthesized copies of original game OSTs, so while I was searching some Japanese websites for some of my favorite tunes, I came across Oyamada-san's webpage "T.O. Sounds". By the way, Oyamada-san is a member of the band "Knights of the Round", a group dedicated to making their own versions of music from various Squaresoft/Square-Enix games (similar to the U.S. band "The Minibosses").

Ruinzfate

NEW! K-JIRO, one of the guitarists for Knights of the Round, hosts this site. Well, he's good with the guitar, no bones about it. I particularly like his version of the J-E-N-O-V-A theme from the new Square-Enix movie "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children". He also appears to be a fan of Nobuo Uematsu's heavy rock band, "The Black Mages". If you enjoy guitar music as much as I do, give K-JIRO's sounds a try.

Computer Music Center

NEW! If you've gone to the sites above and decided that you liked fan-arranged versions of video game tunes, here's a great place to search for websites that host lots of fan MIDIs and MP3s. Computer Music Center allows you to search Japanese music sites by musical instruments used, video game titles, media formats, etc.

Reign Radio: The Internet Rock Authority

Christian hard rock and heavy metal galore! Just tune in via WinAmp, iTune, RealPlayer or Windows Media Player and you'll be headbangin' to the screaming guitars of rock veterans and rookies alike in no time at all! Bands include Stryper, Bride, Precious Death, Angelica, Bloodgood, Guardian, Whitecross, Barren Cross, Impelliteri, Mastedon and (choke) MORE (...pant...wheeze...)! Also comes with hilarious commercials such as "The Hair Loss Club for Men" and "Spatula City"! Power Metal forever!

ApologetiX: The Christian Weird Al Yankovich

It must firstly be mentioned that while I do NOT wish to commend the Arminian theology on some of their more evangelical songs (*cough*"Every Step to Take"*cough*), they must still be admired for their efforts. I mean, who ELSE can take secular songs (even ones that might be considered "blasphemous") and turn them into Christian songs that are both funny and informative? In any case, you might want to listen to these guys and judge for yourself.

Audience ONE Ministries

I listened last night and came to this conclusion: Steve Camp's music doth rock. That, and Audience ONE is level-headed when it comes to their doctrine. One of their concerns is that Christian music (and by extension, Christianity in general) is largely becoming nothing more than just another entertainment medium, and the God of the Bible is slowly being taken out of the picture for the sake of tickling the ears of the masses (heck, even once-orthodox Dale Thompson of Bride seems to have fallen prey to the doctrine of universalism). One of their goals is to reclaim Christian music and present it once more to its rightful Creator and Owner, Christ Jesus. Check 'em out.

The Refinery Rock Radio

A person named Thomas Johns emailed me about his small internet radio site "The Refinery Rock Radio", asking if I could add it to my links page. Well, he wasn't kidding when he said that his station played "nothing but the purest rock", and therefore you now see it here! 80's 90's and even modern hard rock are served up quite nicely, perfect for the metal geek (...oxymoron...) like myself. Rock on for the Rock of Salvation forever!

'Zone Radio Network

While browsing through a website dedicated to the Super Mario Brothers, I happened upon this radio station. This site streams various video game music ranging from MIDIs to CD audio, and features tracks from various game series such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario Bros, Rockman/Megaman and RPG tunes. They even have some occasional Japanese radio drama! If you love old-school video games, you might want to drop by the 'Zone.

~ILLUSTRATION SITES~

If you are suddenly interested in the rudiments of my art style, here are some pages worth checking out. You've seen what a non-Japanese person can do; now see what the Japanese are REALLY capable of!

Freedom Island

NEW! This is Garu-san's webpage, Freedom Island! This is a kemono art site ("kemono" means "beast" or "animal") with imbedded MIDI music to accompany you while you browse it. While the interface confused me at first, his website is actually fun; his illustrations, which often combine both 2D CGed art and 3D rendered polygons, feature animal characters that would be perfectly at home in a fantasy adventure game. He even has an oekaki board so if you want to try your hand at sketching animal characters, go for it!

Foxed-Art

NEW! Aiiieee!! FOXES! Who DOESN'T love foxes (well, maybe if you were an Israeli vineyard keeper, perhaps you wouldn't love them so much...)!? I certainly do and this page is IT for people who love those curious little critters. Muddyfox, the site's owner, has done quite a good job designing his site interface and while I find his gallery's thumbnailing scheme a bit too large for my personal tastes, his overall work still makes his website very accessible.

Piclab is basically an Oekaki page. You know, those Java applets that allow you to draw pictures online? Please be warned, though: they have stringent rules regarding the types of images you can post. Be EXREMELY sure to read their rules before you post anything in there (I should know...I mean...one of my drawings was deleted). If you are not familiar with Japanese--like I am--you might want to translate their page using an online translator. Have fun!

T. Blanch

T.Blanch is the home page of Kanaru Mutsuki. She has some very detailed artworks and awesome color pencil pieces. I hope to be able to match her style someday, but for now I must be content with my l337 h4x0r p0w3r5.

Tousuikyou-Blue

Hisui-san's website Tousuikyou-Blue ("tousuikyou" means "[to be] intoxicated" or "enraptured") was only fairly recently assembled--according to her entrance page it was only put up last April 18!--but already she has managed to impress me with the drawings on her front page alone. Not only is the coloring quite excellent, but try checking it at different times of day...you'll notice the image change from day to afternoon and finally night. I think the black cat is responsible for it. (^^ )

DROP

DROP is Yuki Sanorin's homepage. She was one of the first Japanese CG artists I came across, and she also happens to be one of the most excellent I've seen so far. Her pastel colors lend a very feminine feel to her work, and her lineart is very detailed.

サワヒコメ

Ruri Yukarino's webpage "Shisui no Yakata" (trans. Mansion of Amethyst?) is quite an experience. Not only is she a good artist, but she also happens to be a very good web designer (in fact I picked up the idea of multiple Javascript windowed links from her!). An accessible site with lots of colorful art and even a couple of pages dedicated to tutorials. She even has an oekaki tutorial for PaintBBS, so if you're an oekaki freak like me I suggest you go check it out!

COMPARSA

"COMPARSA" (a Cuban dance-play) is the webpage of Kirin Nagisa. She has some very colorful art, a unique soft shading style and an impressive painting technique. She also seems to like using color themes very much, and it gives some of her works a soothing, unified feel. Also, I find it pretty strange but I actually like her use of childlike proportions.

~FRIENDS' PAGES~

While you may be thinking "Wow, this guy actually has FRIENDS?", I would like to defend my position by responding with "I may be an IRC junkie, but I'm not a hermit." Here are the personal pages of friends and acquaintances, just in case you may wish to know what kind of man I am by the company I keep.

Art 4 Clowns

NEW! Art 4 Clowns is the official website of my friend, Chicago-based cartoonist Angel Contreras. He makes illustrations and activity books for children's parties, clowns, magicians, etc. Not only that, but he's also quite lethal with his caricatures. Whether you want comedy or trouble, Angel is your man; look no further. You might want to give his services a try if you live anywhere near his area.

Nathan Gilder

NEW! Nathan Gilder, a.k.a. Neison, is another one of my #prosapologian buddies. With several years' worth of 3D CGing and design under his belt, he presents an online portfolio replete with detailed ink drawings, anatomical diagrams, character designs, game screenshots and various types of CG graphics (including 3D and fractals).

Kasai's Flame

NEW! This is the web page of my best friend, Katz. There's not much to see in her webpage, but the real fun begins when you visit her deviantART account. I consider her much more skilled than I am, and seeing as she has many more talents than I could possibly hope to gain in this life, I can only thank God I met a friend like her. She's literally a walking humbling experience.

Shadow Fox Comics

This is the official homepage of Shadow Fox Comics, a comic book creative team headed by my friend Julie Staples (whose personal website is also listed in this page). If you like good 'ol Western-styled superheroes, this is the place to check out. Details, character profiles and story backgrounds regarding the "From Darkness to Shadow" comic book series and the "Shadow Fox Chronicles" line of novels are provided on the site, as well as the bios of the creative team members, downloadable goodies and even an art gallery. I can already hear some hair metal band playing the title character's theme song. (sings) Shadow FOOOoOooOOoooOoOoOOOooOOOX!!! (cough)

This banner was supposed to be linked to Shadow Fox Comics, but being the cool guy that I am, I was able to ask the webmistress if I could link it to her personal page instead. Therefore, this tallish banner links you to Julie Staples' personal website, which contains lots of miscellaneous stuff. Julie is a fellow Christian, a married woman with three kids and a monster truckin' husband, a frustrated writer (well, judging by the way she spends late hours writing) and a superhero with a specially-modified titanium billy club. Don't kid her about Shadow Fox not having a utility belt. You have been warned. :-D

The Official Website of Peter Pike

Ah, CalvinDude, A.K.A. Peter Pike. Now here is another fellow Christian I can relate to. I mean, consider the following tidbits:

1) We both hate FFVIII and think FFVII was much cooler
2) We both blame Bush (yeah, right)
3) We both rock with our guitars of DOOM!

A staunch conservative, self-professed "Theistic Nihilist" (i.e. If God, the absolute Being who is the source and sustainer of all things, didn't exist, then there'd be no reason for the existence of everything else either), Objectivist and Philosopher of Doom, Pete documents lots of interesting things on his Blog of Death, mostly current issues and the like. He also writes fictional short stories and novels, and lastly--but definitely not the least--he's a one man punk rawk band who is privileged to go to all the trouble of being every member of a three-man band just to bring you thrashin' tunes. Now THAT'S class.

A Crazy Man's Utopia

So you wanna know WHO Wonky is, eh? I'm warning you. This blog of his is not what you would expect. The REAL Wonky is actually quite a serious person when he's not throwing jobu around in #prosapologian. Unconvinced? Well, what are you waiting for? CLICK HERE!

Oh, and as a last note: He's not blond like my drawings show him to be.

Casey's Place

Rusty is one guy whom I'd refer to as the king of IRC nicks. This is his personal webpage, containing some writings, lists of recommended books and even an archive of photos of himself and his friends.

~SOFTWARE~

If you're like me and you don't have any access to a good, legitimate utility, you go look for ones labeled "Freeware". They might not be as good as their retail counterparts, but they do their jobs quite nicely. That having been said, here are some freeware/demo graphics editors I've taken the liberty to place here for your benefit.

Portal Graphics

Portal Graphics is the home of the famous Japanese digital painting utility, openCanvas. Don't let the miniscule size of its installer fool you; this little baby is actually a powerhouse. Color-blending brush effects, Photoshop-style layering, the ability to record your own drawing/painting sessions and full digitizer support make this a CG artist's dream come true.

So what's wrong with it, you ask? Well, it's not as loaded with features as either Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro, and you only get a demo version when you download it...to register it you need to shell out US $71. It's still worth a try, though, so go ahead...you might actually find yourself paying for a copy.

PIXIA's Homepage

PIXIA by Isao Maruoka is a freeware graphics editor...of course, the fact that it's totally free to download and use automatically discounts you from having the same kind of product support as you would a similar item in retail. However, a few good things about Pixia:

1) It's not heavy on your computer's resources.
2) It has many of the features openCanvas has (including digitizer support!).
3) Once you get the hang of the interface, it's handy to use.

A good alternative for people who love openCanvas but can't spare the $$ to get a registered copy (assuming, of course, that they're not two-bit crooks who download cracks just to get their demo software running without a hitch). I suggest downloading the separate Help files and Gurima-san's archived tutorials in the same page to help you get started with Pixia's features, though...the interface can be quite confusing at first.

The GIMP

OK. I'll admit at first that I was skeptical of this Unix-based open-source program...I have an earlier release (ver. 1.3) and I found the layout VERY cumbersome to navigate. Why? Each tool panel is actually in a separate window of its own (e.g. one for the color palette, one for tools, one for layers, etc.). Try having 5 or more GIMP window tabs in your taskbar while you check your email, browse around in Google, compose a Word document and listen to an MP3 of Greg Bahnsen debating an atheist, all at the same time. In other words, it's not exactly the most user-friendly utility around.

However, with the advent of the latest release (ver 2.0 and the new evaluation ver. 2.2), I do declare that I am VERY pleased with what they have done with this utility. They have managed to incorporate multiple panels into a single window by using tabs, thus reducing the average amount of windows to three and making life easier. With an abundance of features nearly similar to that of Paint Shop Pro, I'll give this powerful freeware program four out of five stars.

Be forewarned, though; the current stable version (2.2) is for evaluation and is somewhat glitchy at the moment (friendly tip: Remember to save. A LOT). Please support the developers of The GIMP by dropping them a line about any problems you may have experienced while running it. And while you're at it, please tell them to reduce the average number of windows to two or something. ;-)

~MISCELLANEOUS~

NEW! These are various sites that don't really belong in any of the other categories, but they're pretty nice to visit all the same. Check them out!

Act Select

NEW! If you love Sonic the Hedgehog and want to find out a bit of history regarding him, don't worry. Wikipedia isn't the ONLY place you could run to. HariHariSonic has compiled this wonderful website dedicated to Sonic the Hedgehog, his games and appearances as well as some trivia and flash animation. He also has some free fonts for your taking, all of which are based off of the fonts used in several Sega games.
